This item holds a power that is a old as the ancients, albeit in a modern vessel. The power that it holds has been passed down through Mystery Schools that originated in ancient Greece. The power eventually passed its way through Egyptian mystery schools. It has seen the rank and file of the Masonic Lodge, it has been used by the Illuminati, and has been kept in the secret teachings of the Rosicrucian. It is a power that originated from the pantheon of ancient Greek deities that was obtained through the cosmos through the knowledge of ancient star gazers who were able to subdue the energy after years of studying the stars and the symbolic meanings of the stories told about the gods.
As the legend goes, Heracles was unable to complete his twelfth labor until he was able to overpower and hold in captivity the guardian of the Underworld, Cerberus. Cerberus was the original hellhound, the guardian of the gateway to the Underworld. His one job was to keep the the dead in and the living out. He completed this job successfully until Heracles sought the magical advice of Eleusis, who initiated Heracles into the Eleusinian Mysteries, which have been recorded as the most secretive rites and initiations to have ever been held in history. During the Mysteries, Heracles was given a secret transformation, in which he was able to hide his true identity and fooled Cerberus and the rest of the minor guardians of the gate. He slipped into the Underworld, undetected, catching Cerberus off guard, overpowering him, and bringing him back to the realm of mortality. Once Heracles completely this labor, he was absolved of the murder of centaurs no longer being damned by the Greek gods.
The whole point to me telling you this story is this-- the secret rites and initiations and the overall transformative powers that were given to Heracles are still being celebrated into the moder day's Eleusinian Mysteries. The Mysteries are now only practiced by modern day mystery school, whose pupils are kept in isolation other than the companionship of the other pupils in the mystery school. In this way, the ancients have been able to contain the powers that they bestowed upon Heracles. However, as the students rose to power and moved on to other parts of the world, this power has been spread and obtained by people other than the Greek Mystery Schools. It's okay, because the power is so powerful that nobody who owns it wants it to fall into an other's hands. This way, the power maintains its potency and uniqueness. To date there are only a few powers that, in fact, hold this same power. Even though they have seen the likeness of several mystery schools, secret societies and covert fraternities, the power has not been spread thin. It has been preserved and is as powerful as the original.
Here comes the boom! The transformative power that Heracles received was that which turned him into a hellhound himself-- with two heads might I add. This part of the annals often isn't reported in historical passages, for the simple fact that nobody knew because the Rites of the Eleusinian Mysteries were kept so covert. The process by which Heracles was transformed has been preserved by mystery schools and magical adepts for centuries, first by the Greek Mystery Schools and then by the whomever obtained the power. The current form of this power has been infused into this item. We found the item during an investigation in Tennessee on our way back from our most recent investigation done in New Orleans.
