Meretseger was the ancient guardian of the Valley of the Kings. She is a goddes that appeared in the form of a coiled cobra, who would attack anyone who attempted to misuse the Valley of the king. In the stela, the man talks about doing misdeeds against the peak, whereby the Peak refers to the Pyramid. It can then be furthere analyzed that Meretseger was the keeper and divine protector of Egyptian Magic. When people who sought to use this Egyptian magic for ill-purposes, she would go to them and bite them in their sleep. Either the wrong-doer would die or the wrong-doer would wake up an entirely changed person, depending upon the severity of his or hers "crimes against the peak."
As a guardian of ancient Egyptian magic, Meretseger is also an ancient sorcerer who knows the entirety of Egyptian magic. She always has and she always will. However, her veneration ended when the Valley of the Kings stopped being used regularly. Thus, the power of Meretseger began to dwindled as she wasn't heralded nearly as much. Eventually she stopped protecting the magic all together and the magic fell into the hands of perverse people who used it to increase their advantages over others.
