Nom, nom, nom...  Have you ever had an insatiable craving for human flesh?  Then there's a chance you could be suffering from Wendigo Psychosis.  Wendigo Psychosis is a culture-bound disorder in which a person craves the taste of human flesh (even if food were ready available) and/or the fear that they will become a cannibal themselves.  This used to be a ritual that was performed by Native Algonquin cultures- although it was considered forbidden.  It was based on a Mythical creature called the Wendigo that was an evil cannibalistic spirit that humans could transform into or be possessed by- especially if they practiced cannibalism.

Several years ago, one of our investigative team traveled to a Native settlement in the North where these practices used to occur.  They spoke to a Shaman who remembered that their tribe used to practice a ceremonial dance when their tribe was experiencing famines to remind them that the practice consuming human flesh was forbidden.  The Shaman told them that during famines or other disasters that diminished their food supplies they needed to be extremely careful to have food stores to prevent them from resorting to cannibalism and possibly becoming Wendigos themselves. He then gave them something that was from the site of one of their ceremonies that was performed a long time ago that had been passed down to him by another Shaman.
