Into this piece has been set the presence of a woman who was never sainted. She never looked for publicity for all the hardship she endured. She never backed down from the adversity that she faced and she fought the evil that presented itself to her with only a tattered old Bible that helped her find herself through. I'm talking about one Marguerite de la Rocque de Roberval. Despite being a fairly wealth French noblewoman, she volunteered to relocated to a New France, which has since become French Canada. Money has never really been a thing for her and she looked forward to becoming part of a new chapter in the existence of the French empire. She wanted to make history. She set sail in the 1500s with her uncle, who was a decorated sailor of the times and close friend to the King of France.
Her voyage would never make it. Her ship, due to an unfortunate series of events, found itself washed up on the shores of an island that most sailors tended to steer clear of. The island is simply called the Island of Demons, or in French, "Ile des Demons." It is an allegedly fabled place that was taken off the maps in the 1700s, due to the fact that technology of the time dictated that the island didn't exist. However, Marguerite's experience tells otherwise. While on the island she experience demonic hardships that nobody should ever have to face and she told us all about it when we summoned her specifically for the creation of this piece. The island, as she puts it, never sees the shining of the sun. It knows two types of existence-- pitch black night and fog covered daylight. She recounted one her experiences that she had with a demon, as the most terrifying that she has ever encountered.
After the people that had been washed ashore with her died of illness and deprivation, she found herself alone on the island. She was preparing for a hunt one day, when she noticed something moving by a tree. Hoping that the movement was that of an animal that could be her next meal, she neared the place where she had seen the movement. As she neared the place, she recounted that she saw this black shadow seep up from the bottom of the tree. It inched forward toward her like fingers reaching out to grab something. She backed away and watched as the black mist took full metaphysical form. She figured that was formed was about seven feet tall by her account. It had glowing eyes and it snarled at her like a coyote. She tried to run, but the entity caught up with her. It changed forms as it seeped across the ground after her. Just as the entity was about to get her, she dropped her Bible that she carried with her faithfully. It flipped open to a page and she noticed it was no longer the pages of the Bible. She picked it up and began reading the new passage. As she did, the entity that was chasing her slipped back into the woods and ran away from her.
From that experience on, she consulted her Bible every time she had a run in with the demons and ferocious creatures that dwelt on the island. It even helped her slay a bear, the skin of which she was wearing when she found on the island by a fishing boat. It was the Bible that she carried that gave her the word of God and series of white light spells that helped her survive on the island. When she was found, it was the only possession she was found with and it was the only possession she carried back with her to her maiden France, where she lived out the rest of her days.
Consequently, we wound up with this Bible. Since the book is antiquated, we are keeping it for preservation. This is the tool we used in summoning and contacting the soul of Marguerite. The stories she told us went on for hours upon hours. I'm not going to write about them, because it would be enough to publish a book. At the end of our encounter, we asked her to help us make this piece. This piece extracts all the powers from her Bible that received the word of God. Not the word of God as in the literal sense of the word of God. Rather, this is the active and living word of God.
