If you haven't ever heard of Simon Magus, allow me to introduce you to him. He is the father of post-Christian Gnosticism and, quite frankly the archetypal heretic. He offered to purchase his way into the priesthood and that was something that was highly frowned on by the Christian church. However, the magic that he was able to concoct and use that he drew from alternative sources was nothing to scoff at. Simon did eventually make amends with the Christian church who allowed him to join some time later. That has not stopped the information that he developed prior to being fostered into the church from bein distributed. It isn't even dark magic. It's just that in those days any magic that wasn't delivered by God was considered heretical.
One of the things that Simon Magus could do-- and do well-- was communicate with the dead. He had a knack for finding and bringing forth spirits that other mediums couldn't communicate with. He had ways of opening up portals to places that have been visited by very few, some of which have not been opened since. This is because Simon was born with a rare blood type that allowed him to connect to the universe in ways that other "normal" humans cannot. The knowledge of the universe moved within his core and he was able to manifest things other people simply could not.
What are we offering here? This would be a conjuration and summoning piece.
