They meet only 4 times per year-- once on the Summer Solstice, once on the Winter Solstice, once on the Autumnal Equinox, and once on the Spring Equinox. They meet in Venice. It is on those specific days that a door is opened between the mortal world and the world of the elders. The elders are the ones that existed in primordial times. They are the spirits the were spread across the waters of the world. When God delivered light to this realm they created an alternate universe for themselves. They can't stand the light because they are creatures on innate darkness that require the energies of cosmic darkness for their survival. They use the cosmic darkness to create the magic that keeps them safe. They return to Earth four times per calendar year.
The fact is the Elders would return at all if it wasn't for the fact that they are summoned. They are summoned by the ones that meet on those four days per year when the energies hit the Earth just right in one particular spot in the world. They can use this energy, along with ancient sanguine sorcery that they found along the way to call upon the Elders and since they are making a ritual with blood the Elders are contractually obligated to oblige. The ones that I am referring to call themselves the Vampires of Venice. It's not because they are all from Venice. These vampires are spread out all over the globe, but they convene in Venice on the four days that I told you about above.
The coven, if you even want to call it that, originated in the days of Medici who paid an immortal sorcerer to find the Primordial Summoning magic. it was found and Medici and a few of his colleagues convened, using the magic to call the Elders forth using a blood sacrifice. The practice continued and the group grew in numbers. Today there are about 144 members of the Vampires of Venice. I'm not exactly sure the significance, but the number is of ritual importance. They use their ritual to call forth the Elders who renew their vampiric powers and abilities, their ability to remain creatures of sanguine power until the following opening of the gateway. Medici was the first Vampire of Venice, along with most of his family.
Over the years magical pieces that revive the sanguine essence within the soul of the Vampires have been created. This is not as powerful as attending one of the convergences, because it will not give you a sanguine transformation. However, this piece provides extreme sanguine power and ability. I'm not going to list all the sanguine powers and abilities because there are so many of them. Those of you who know sanguine vampires already know. Those of you who don't, there is no shortage of information on the internet. If you have to ask if this piece will give you that power, the answer is yes-- it will. This is the very essence of becoming a sanguine vampire without actually gaining the the soul of the sanguine or receiving a transformation.
